yeah this is goin to be amazing! The woodland area is really beautiful so they'll be plenty of space for some trippy madness.
This is a place where you can really go back to nature and connect with beautiful surrondings. work's already started in the forest as we spent last weekend with the guys from neston repairing and building bridges in the woodland so people can wonder through.
it's gona be ace!!!!! ;D ;D

thanks for all your responses and of course you are all welcome to get involved, however you can. plans are quickly picking up pace now on the organising. ive gotten sketched quite a few ideas for new outdoor stylee decor pieces, next on the list is to beguin making it all as alot of the art will be spaced out around the site we could probably do with a few more uv lights . . . if anyones intrested in bringing some extras along, let us know so we can have a check of how many we'll have. cheers Thom x

I'm guessing we'll be needing some generaters too if things are to be spaced out... maybe a few little ones that don't make too much racket.... If anyone could help with that, be most appreciated Anyone got a diesel one thats converted to Bio-fuel? Choo xXx

Anyone got a diesel one thats converted to Bio-fuel? hey Choops.... Any deisel will run on biodiesel without a converstion. (They were originally designed to run on vege oil....GREAT pre war technology!!!)... The only problem is, some hire companies will take your deposit/void warranty, if you use cheaper 'RED' diesel or 'BIO DIesel'....but it actually in reality makes little difference to the running of the machine. What is it you need to power? Theres a few small gennies ranging between 2-8k between me and some of the local Strange crew. They aint quiet tho petal....silenced gennies are REALLY expensive to buy. (but not much more to hire nowadays....In fact, someone correct me if im wrong but i think as of last year, hire companies are only allowed to supply silenced gennies).. Like i said, what dya need to power......should be able to help in one way or another Irie, N

Aaah, excellent - I thought that was the deal with Diesel Gennies but dont wanna be the one to pour veggie oil into some ones with out them bein ok with it first! And I've got some pretty long power cables too so I'm sure we can have it far enough away for sound to not matter too much if thats the case All the cafe really needs is some lightidge and I've got a big water urn too, pretty economical though so not much more that what a kettle takes, better really though. I've got gas ranges for the cooking so thats ok, although a microwave would be handy but not essential (I know they take more to power). So yea, not much really. I can get by with only light on leccy if needs as I've now got a HUMOUNGOUS!! kettle, but the urn is real handy Ooooh, and a blender for some tasty home made lentil n veg soup :@) Cheers dears xXx

I dont think you can just put veggie oil in the tank - you need to do a little chemistry first if I remember rightly. And most biofuel that is found in garages is only 5% biofuel. Best look into what ya have to do

My gennie would be enough to run striplights and a microwave (its petrol tho) ... I have a blender too!

ill be happy to tell you there will be NO microwaves needed. - i will be cooking up good healthy nutrious vege meals regulary each day. and as for what we need to power im currently working out designs on what and where things will be placed . . . will soon be able to have a clear view of everything we need. ;D

I dont think you can just put veggie oil in the tank - you need to do a little chemistry first if I remember rightly. And most biofuel that is found in garages is only 5% biofuel. Best look into what ya have to do thats true. My friend runs a Bio Garage, and they do two blends......5% and 95%. A lot if not all of the older engines are quite happy on 95%.....but some newer engines have their warranty invalid by 95%blend..... we've used 95% in a hire genny if im being honest.......but to be fair, does it really matter what your burning if your burning petrol, diesel whatever. I think a nicer way to go would be to use whatever is cheap and convenient generator wise, and just get everyone to chip in a quid to offset the carbon for the whole party, cars to and from the party included...... If 75 people all chip in £1-2. Its completelly do-able and i'd be happpy to help organise it if needs be. Irie, N

get everyone to chip in a quid to offset the carbon for the whole party, cars to and from the party included...... Yea that sounds like a nice idea... what do you do with the money then, I'm guessing there would be some sort of organisation you can give it too, or just go buy some trees..? Could be made a part of the weekend perhaps, planting some tree's at the end of it all I'd really really love to go Solar Powered at some point... so I'm gonna need to sit down (with a helping brain!) and do some maths pretty soon. Tis deffo one of my main aims for within the next year. Anyways, off topic! Oops

What are those energy efficient UV bulbs like for the amount of light they kick out?
I've looked at them a few times (I dont have any UV of my own at the moment) but not yet taken the plunge to buy any.

What are those energy efficient UV bulbs like for the amount of light they kick out? I bought 10 x 75w bulbs and they kick out the same as one or two good strip lights. (they were the cheap kind tho so dont know if it was that) cannon are a much better investment......as are strips, if you cage them up....(im sick of popping strip bulbs).... ... N

I've looked at them a few times (I dont have any UV of my own at the moment) but not yet taken the plunge to buy any. Hi HH, what do you want to use the u.v. light for ? Is it for lighting decor, or bathing an area in u.v. light, and is that area in your bedroom or at an event. If its an out door event than thats another story As far as u.v. cannons go , they are for a specific use, which is to throw a u.v. light a long distance (at something that is further away than you could light up with a strip light), they are not for filling a room with u.v. light they are for directing u.v. light and out side of that purpose they are no use at all , just a waste of energy. (the bulbs in cannons have a short life, they may still come on after several years but their efficency deterioates after a short amount of hours of use). The energy efficent bulbs that we have are 11W and 25W. The 11W is eqivalent to 60w , the 25W bulb is equivalent to 100W. We have seen just 2 of these bulbs light up a party. If you come along to this event i will be happy to give you a demonstration. Its an interesting subject u.v. lighting , its the preparation of the area to be lit thats just as important as the lamps to be used, simply more u.v. light = MORE LIGHT (not more u.v.ness ) therefore think - less is more. Hey P Media.... Where did ya get your UV bulbs from?? (......like i said above......mine are poo but yours sound rather good so wouldn't mind a few ) As for the cannon, i have a few spare if needed... (P. Not sure what ya meen about directing the UV light tho....I have a few different ''Reflector-Hoods' that are either narrow or wide dispersion. Much like the difference between a flood light and stage spot. Same bulb, different reflector. One narrow beam that projects far...one that bathes areas but doesnt have much range. Anyway.....techyness aside.......they're there if ya need em Thom, 3x400watt Cannon, 5 x 4 foot 40watt Strips with reflectors, 2 x 2foot 20watt strips with reflectors, and a few 2foot strips in the standard white holders....... peace, N

I'd be using them primarily for lighting UV reactive drops ... both indoors and out.
I *definitely* wont be using them in my bedroom since I have an aversion to UV after spending far too many hours underneath several great chuff-off 1kW UV floods (damn your eyes hurt after 8 hours of that stuff)
One of my main concerns for the lighting is power requirements, I only have a small gennie and if I start adding lights to the mix then I'm quickly going to run out of leccy. Most likely I'll go the way of caged striplights, since once the discharge has ignited they present minimal load.
From what I can gather the energy saving bulbs are basically the same technology as twisted striplights, but my concern was that, as nanook says, they might not be as effective as a bog-standard striplight.
Another route might be the UV LED's, but they are pretty damned expensive and I can imagine you would need a LOT of them to even come close to the output of a standard flouro tube.
