as a person who classes herself as a bit of a psytrance facist i can only give my own personal opinion. I'm not usually one to enjoy proggy but if thats what your set was nanook, i thouroughly enjoyed it. groovy beats; nice to move to... and as for the d**k head that was shouting out......those that matter really enjoyed your set even with the rig break down so dont let his ignorence bring you down. overall i can safely say that was one of the most enjoyable and well put together club nights that myself and the crew have been to. A couple of years ago i sat with the soma sonic lads and listened to their ideas for the perfect psytrance night....well lads, you have surpassed all expectations! awsome!Me and T will be down for everyone we can manage. a lot of the long running club nights can take a lesson or two from yourselves. i think a lot of them become complacent and dont put the same thought and feeling into their nights as it was so obvious that you guys continue to do. you are an example for us all. keep it up lads n lasses. x

*just passing on a message*
someone suggested that as most other nights like Alien are £10 to get in, and as Soma Sonic is on a par with any other club night that you could charge £10 entry and donate £3 of that to Charity, i know not everyone works but would they be happy to pay a bit more if it went to a good cause? the last Soma would of raised a good few hundred pounds.
what are your thoughts..........................

Lovely idea Griff, an yea I recon £7 is an absolute bargain too! Charging extra and putting it to charity would be awesom, but I recon that with getting big names in, any extra money will have to go towards getting them over

not my thoughts, just passing on a suggestion.....for you to chew on we tried that at Strange Daze... It worked well for the first month, and paid for us to Carbon Offset a few of our parties. But after that, the ''passers by'' lost intrest and we only got the hardcore regulars thru the door. (worked against us in the long run Dont know how many passers by you get at Soma, but may be something to consider.... (seems most of ya crowd are regulars anyway, so may not be an issue for ya??) peas, N

I recon it would be less complicated, and in the long run much better, to carry on with keepin an 'indoor party' breaking even - with all profits going to the perpetuation of the club night (constant evolution an all that) and then if your of the charitable mind, getting involved with something like Karmic Rhythms... keeps the karma goin ... that way the mission statement or ethos of the 'indoor party' doesn't have to change depending on how well its doing, and, something entirely charitable gets a life of its own without the complication and the 'this bit for this... that bit for that....' Hope that makes sense xXx

(there were alot of ppl there, but ALOT of the ppl there are actually involved in someway or another so didnt pay entry. Dont know how many passers by you get at Soma, but may be something to consider.... (seems most of ya crowd are regulars anyway, so may not be an issue for ya??) peas, N i dont think we get any passers by, seeing as its on an industrial estate on the outskirts. ...but alot of our followers are skint so keeping it as low as poss is essensial.

At last Christmas party we did, we charged £3, and turned over the same as if we'd charged £10....

[board=soma thread=1192668976 post=1196429019] but ALOT of the ppl there are actually involved in someway or another so didnt pay entry. that's why at UV everyone usually pays including the door staff (except security) and DJ's, just because so many people are involved in putting it on

indeed, the UV method I totally support, EVERYONE PAYS. Kev has about 3 people helping him, I know he might have less decor, but stream lining is always a good thing. I often go to events early to get some good pics, but I always insist on paying, I ain't there to get in for free, and I want to support the Psy Trance Scene, its people like us that keep the scene alive as music sales don't mount to much these days so we need to keep the momentum going. long live Psy Trance DD

is it just me or is the vid frame rate really low - seems well clunky - it might be a nice idea to set a cam up where the mirrior ball is - then you get a nice wide shot that takes everything in and no movement (no shakes so its much better to watch) you could do easy pans round and could zoom in to certain groups. than move it to the other side of the club where Dylan had his spinny light and rerpeat the same thing no hassles good quality movs for all to enjoy - we do a fair bit of video work ere at work - if you want i can edit/copy stuff etc would be really nice to have some sweet clips of the parties

I really like the idea of havin video footage of parties, would be ace for the website too an it gives another dimension innit Was tryin to get a time lapse camera that was being given away by one of the departments at work but some awfully serious research group took it instead, poop!
